Deep Dive #2: Seventeen toilets designed by famous architects and featured in the film “Perfect Days”!

These are all public toilets, so they are open 24/7, and they’re FREE!
•
Perfect Days is a movie about a day in the life of a Tokyo Toilet cleaner…

but this story of an ordinary man living his life in a quietly extraordinary way is as thought-provoking as it is heartwarming. And the toilets themselves deserve accolades as Best Supporting, because they are well worth a pilgrimage!
What is “The Tokyo Toilet” project?
Tokyo’s Shibuya Ward hired Japan’s most famous architects to renovate seventeen public restrooms. Each solution is a masterpiece of design, innovation, new materials, and paying attention to the needs of the community around them.
Whether you visit all these fabulous peeatoriums or just a few, they’re guaranteed to delight your eyes and prompt plenty of lively discussion! But don’t take my word for it—click here to see photos of every toilet and its special details, or keep scrolling and use this as a guide to see them for yourself, day or night! (I’m including both daytime and night photos of each toilet, so you can choose when best to see it.)
