• Take the Chuo Rapid Line from Shinjuku Station (OK to get on any train – even the express trains stop at Tachikawa, and they’re a lot faster than the regular Rapid’s 38 minutes!)
• The main entrance of the park is about a 10 minute walk from Tachikawa Station. The gingko trees and fountain are at this entrance.
• If you’d like to be closer to the playgrounds, picnic areas and the Japanese garden, get off the train at Tachikawa and wait on the same track until a train arrives that says “Ome” in the little window showing the destination. Get on that train and ride it one stop to Nishi-Tachikawa. (Note: you have to push a button next to the door to get the doors to open on this line!)
While you’re in Japan, read a novel set in Tokyo!
